Are… are those sideburns? Did Gideon always have them? I suddenly feel like I haven’t paid close enough attention. Lol

As far as I can tell, he didn’t have sideburns before – I went back and checked.

His nails are definitely different as well, notice how they have sharpened and become much more claw-like.

The nails I noticed too. Interesting!

Wait, I thought Gideon couldn’t change back? Or was that only in the previous story arc?

Well, in the previous arc, he was in human form and couldn’t seem to transform back to the fox – but he’s clearly the fox now. It’s not that he completely can’t do it, just that he’s having trouble making the switch at some times.

His emotions get the better of him is my guess.

Got a lot of respect for anyone who tries his or her hand at an online comic, and the art here is very detailed and refined…

…but seems like you reuse plot elements a little too much. Either for convenience or a lull in creativity; I would suggest mixing it up a bit more.

First chapter: Lightning storm knocks down tree on miller girl’s mother causing traumatic plot device; fight between two characters has one strangling the other and ends when one hits the other in the head with an object.

Second chapter: Lightning storm rocks sea and destroys boat mast causing chaotic plot device; fight between two characters has one strangling the other and ends when one hits the other in the head with an object.

Third chapter: Lightning storm….(sensing too much pattern here for such a short story so far :/)

Can’t the lightning be a motif? Perhaps representing the inescapable nature of destiny?

Well with that thought the inescapable nature of destiny would actually be the motif (distinctive feature/dominant idea) and the lightning would be the representational element, not the other way around. There are various ways in which to represent a motif, particularly if one is going to do so in a vastly arbitrary kind of manner.Having the same way of representing the same plot element in over 66.6% of the comic so far makes it seem stagnate and uncreative at best, and at worst, just kind of lazy/recycled.
